How to Optimize a Sales Funnel
Improve a sales funnel by finding the largest constraint, measuring meaningful transitions and testing changes with a clear hypothesis.
Start with the bottleneck
Do not optimize every page at once. Find the biggest meaningful drop in the journey and ask why qualified users fail to move forward.
Measure transitions
Track the conversion between key steps: visit to lead, lead to call, sales page to checkout, checkout to purchase, purchase to upsell.
Form a hypothesis
Example: “Qualified visitors abandon the sales page because the offer is unclear.” Then change the offer explanation and measure the relevant transition.
Prioritize leverage
Offer, audience, traffic quality, headline, proof, friction and follow-up usually deserve attention before cosmetic tweaks.
