What an order bump is

An order bump is an optional add-on presented during checkout, typically designed to be easy to understand and complementary to the main purchase.

Good bump characteristics

  • Directly related to the main purchase
  • Low explanation burden
  • Clear incremental value
  • No hidden preselection

Measure more than acceptance rate

Watch refund behavior, customer support issues and completion of the primary purchase. A bump that creates confusion can hurt the core conversion.
